Montblanc – Legend Intense: Overview, Smell, Notes & More!

The original Legend scent by Montblanc was released in 2011.

The German brand, famous for its pens and luxury goods, released a “more intense Legend” just two years later.

Whether this had something to do with customer feedback on the original is not clear.

What’s bright as day is that this recent version is by far the favorite of its target audience; enough reason to plunge into its individual features.

What Does Montblanc Legend Intense Smell Like?

The perfume receives constant praise for its gorgeous opening.

The bergamot here brings out a citrusy freshness that performs well alongside the pineapple.

This sets off a well-blended balance of sweetness, freshness, and a hint of spiciness as the scent shifts toward the middle.

Red apple is the most pronounced accent.

Along with the pineapple, it gives this fragrance its revered DNA.

Cardamom and pepperwood go on to provide a warm base to this fruitiness.

An element of creaminess then emerges as it approaches the base.

This blends in well with the woody cedar.

Together with the oak moss, this all brings out a masculine feel to the aroma.

Amber takes over when the base is more pronounced, bringing the aromatic fougere to a memorable, warm, and woody close.

How Long Does It Last?

In contrast to the original version, it’s more potent.

Meaning that it not only has a stronger projection, but it also lasts longer.

Despite being an eau de toilette, it can easily last a whole workday; an average of 6 to 8 hours with a projection of about 3 hours.

You would need 4-5 sprays on your pulse points, but a t-shirt is also a great carrier.

Sillage peak is great and it’s a perfect compliment grabber.

When Should You Wear It?

This is a perfect all-year-round scent.

The fresh and fruity tones make it well-suited to the warm seasons, while its warm and woody accords also make it a great choice throughout the fall and winter.

Because of this, you can easily wear it during the day and at night.

Where Should You Wear It?

You can wear it both at work and on a date.

It’s not unsuitable in an office environment and depending on whether or not you work in a tight space, simply controlling the number of sprays will be enough.

It has a sensual dry down that is perfect for a romantic occasion too.

It’s not Creed Aventus, but it’s good enough to get the job done.

Leisure activities, formal occasions, trips — these are all situations that perfectly fit this fragrance.

Not only is it a safe blind buy, but it just might be your new signature scent.

Presentation and Value For Money

This EDT can suit some older men, but it’s a hit with the younger audience (20-25).

While presented as being for the modern, suave man, the beautiful bottle has a simple metallic design with little to no engraving, thus aiding its appeal for all age groups.

The scent is compared to a number of other fragrances, including La Nuit de L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent and Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch.

Chanel Platinum Egoiste is also known to be one of the few similar upscale fragrances.

The prices on the market are reasonable.

A 3.4 oz (100ml) bottle goes for around $55 while a 1.7oz (50 ml) can go for about $40, providing good value for money.

And if you don’t like it, it makes a great gift for a friend or relative.

The Bottom Line

This fragrance is one of the few that put Montblanc on a pedestal (alongside the likes of Legend Spirit and Starwalker).

The aroma, versatility, and longevity all culminate into a perfume you can count on in almost any situation.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s lived up to its name, but it’s surely on the way.

Perfumes that Smell Like Montblanc Legend Intense

Alongside the likes of Fierce and Platinum Eoiste, here are a few other alternatives to the scent.

1. Lab (Pal Zileri)

Lab, released back in 2006, has an opening that smells primarily citrusy.

It carries a white floral heart, only it misses the warm spiciness of the Montblanc bouquet.

This makes it a more floral, woodier alternative.

2. Ferrari Black (Ferrari)

Released in 1999, Ferrari Black is similar in that it contains scents of apple and plum.

Overall it’s a good scent and also contains a spicy element thanks to its cinnamon note.

The masculine woodiness then goes on to give it a warm, smooth finish that also smells sweet.

3. Le Roy Soleil Extreme for Men (Salvador Dali)

The most recent on the list (2012), Le Roy Soleil Extreme carries the smell of pineapple and oak with the perfect blending of notes like green apple and lavender.

It’s a nice, strong scent and versatile enough for any season.

It also boasts an aromatic feel similar to Montblanc Legend Intense.
